The American Caribbean Maritime Foundation (ACMF) aims to uplift the Caribbean community by providing financial aid for maritime education. The foundation grants scholarships and equips the classrooms of maritime universities in Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, the Bahamas, and Guyana. Each year, the foundation chooses a person who has also made a big difference in the maritime space in the Caribbean. For 2022, Eddie Gonzalez, President and CEO of Seaboard Marine, was chosen by the ACMF to receive the Anchor Award.
The Anchor Award was presented to Mr. Gonzalez at the annual fundraising gala in Fort Lauderdale. The event was well attended by many in the maritime and shipping industries and included distinguished patron Dr. Irfaan Ali, President of the Republic of Guyana. The evening raised significant funds, thanks partly to a considerable contribution by Seaboard Corporation, Seaboard Marine, and other Seaboard Marine vendors and partners.
Seaboard Marine is wholly committed to empowering the communities we serve. Seaboard Marine is focused on supporting nonprofit organizations that actively work to create positive change in our community and industry. The support for the ACMF directly connects to Seaboard Marine’s sustainable journey to advocate for education and community development.
Edward Gonzalez said, “I am honored to receive the Anchor Award, and we are proud to donate to a Caribbean-based organization that has opened opportunities in the maritime industry to hundreds of people. The foundation aligns with our goal of making a difference wherever we serve.”
