Seaboard Marine received a seventh consecutive ESR award by FUNDAHRSE, a nonprofit organization that recognizes social responsibility in Honduras. Each year, the organization recognizes companies that give back to the communities in which they serve.
FUNDAHRSE recognized our office in Honduras for their social responsibility efforts both before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. Receiving the recognition plaque on behalf of Seaboard Marine was Victor Sabillon, Controller. This year, our office in San Pedro Sula purchased and donated 250 small trees that were planted with help from the municipal environmental unit in Honduras. Our staff also donated school supplies to a local grade school in San Pedro Sula and throughout the pandemic, we donated food bags to the Miguel Angel Pavon Community in San Pedro Sula and over 80 families in the Chameleconsito area located in the city of Puerto Cortés.
Daisy Pastor, Seaboard Marine Honduras General Manager, said, “I am extremely proud of our employees and all of the solid work they have done in our local communities this year, which was especially challenging given the pandemic. We recognize the importance of being good corporate citizens, especially with the difficulties so many have faced due to Covid-19 and for this reason, we are honored to receive this award once again.”
In addition to the food bags, we made a variety of donations throughout our community during the pandemic. Our employees collected school supplies and donated them to a local grade school. With the assistance of key vendors and one of our gracious customers, we were able to donate and distribute thousands of masks to Honduras citizens, including those living in rural areas, raising awareness on the need to protect oneself from Covid-19.
